Las poetas visitan a Juana Bignozzi (Ciclo)

Una poeta muere. Otra, más joven, recibe como herencia el mandato de hacer conocer su obra. A esa tarea se suma un equipo de mujeres de cine. Ese extraño triángulo pone en marcha este film que, curiosamente, no adopta la forma de una investigación sino de un entramado aún más complejo y sutil. Previsiblemente, surgen preguntas, pero también revelaciones, momentos casi secretos de belleza y de lucidez, y una persistente incertidumbre que acaba por volverse un objetivo. A través de esas estrategias laterales, Juana Bignozzi acaba por aparecer en el film en todo su esplendor, invencible y vital: el film triunfa.

Cuando la universalmente reconocida poeta argentina Juana Bignozzi murió en 2015, nombró albacea universal de su obra a la joven periodista y también poeta Mercedes Halfon, quien, naturalmente, se comprometió a hacer justicia con la magnitud de este legado. Para ello, contó con el apoyo de Laura Citarella y sus compañeras de El Pampero Cine. Juntas construyen un film que comienza como una interesante cinta de investigación, para acabar convirtiéndose en un enriquecedor y emotivo diálogo entre poetas y cineastas y, a través de ellas, de la propia Juana Bignozzi con el espectador. Porque una vez que la autora de Las poetas visitan a Andrea del Sarto —entre otros maravillosos poemarios— aparece en escena, su elocuencia, su fuerte personalidad y su poesía cobran vida en cualquier idioma, y eso demuestra la grandeza del cine.

A poet dies. A younger one inherits the obligation to promote her work. She is joined by a team of female filmmakers. The film begins with this unusual triangle but, interestingly, grows into something more complex and subtle than a traditional research project. Predictably, questions arise, but so do revelations and almost clandestine moments of beauty and clarity, along with a persistent sense of uncertainty that ends up becoming a goal in its own right. Thanks to these secondary strategies, Juana Bignozzi appears in this film in all her glory, invincible and full of life: the film succeeds.

When the universally acclaimed Argentinean poet Juana Bignozzi died in 2015, she named the young journalist and poet Mercedes Halfon guardian of her works around the globe, who—quite understandably—felt compelled to do this legacy justice. To achieve this, she got support from Laura Citarella and her partners at El Pampero Cine. Jointly, they put together a film that starts as an interesting research project and evolves into an enriching and moving dialogue between poets and filmmakers and, through them, between Juana Bignozzi herself and the viewer. Because once the author of Las poetas visitan a Andrea del Sarto—among other wonderful poetry books—enters the film, her eloquence, her strong personality and her poetry come to life in any language, thereby proving the greatness of cinema.
