Para Sama

Para Sama es un personal y poderoso documental en forma de carta que Waad al-Kateab, una madre siria de 26 años, dirige a su hija Sama durante los últimos días del asedio de Alepo. Waad vive con el padre de Sama, que trabaja como médico y responsable del último hospital de Alepo controlado por los rebeldes. Con la ciudad totalmente sitiada y soportando los bombardeos diarios ejecutados por el régimen sirio y la fuerza aérea rusa, Waad teme que puedan ser asesinados en cualquier momento. Así surge este conmovedor mensaje filmado a su hija, para explicarle quiénes eran sus padres y por qué luchaban, como un futuro recuerdo para la niña en caso de que no sobrevivan.

For Sama is an intimate and powerful documentary that takes the form of a letter from Waad al-Kateab, a 26-year-old Syrian mother, to her daughter Sama in the last days of the siege of Aleppo. Waad lives with Sama’s father, who works as a doctor in charge of the last standing hospital in rebel-held Aleppo. Surrounded on all sides, bombarded daily by the Syrian regime and Russian air force, Waad fears they may be killed at any moment. So she crafts this moving video message to her daughter to explain who her parents were and what they were fighting for, as a future memento for the young girl in case they don’t make it out alive.
