«No hay ciencia, ni progreso en el conocimiento sin amor, sin pasión, sin identificación, incluso cuando se trata de un tema aparentemente desprovisto de vida, como la evolución de una ladera o el origen de un aguacero. Se puede, quizás, aplicar una técnica de manera rutinaria con pura objetividad, pero ciertamente no se puede descubrir algo nuevo sin que el investigador se implique por completo en el tema que intenta dilucidar». Suzanne Daveau (Francia, 1925) supo desde el principio que estaba destinada a vivir grandes aventuras en la naturaleza. Al final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, cuando estaba a punto de graduarse en geografía, partió en busca de temas apropiados para su estudio científico. Su sed de conocimiento la llevó por varios países africanos y Portugal, donde vivió muchos años felices con su colega portugués Orlando Ribeiro, de quien habla con amor y absoluto respeto.
La cineasta lusa Luísa Homem plantea un retrato documental que abarca todas las facetas de la rica vida de Suzanne Daveau, desde sus investigaciones de campo y su vida privada, hasta el feminismo y la influencia de la era moderna en las relaciones familiares y la ciencia. At the end of World War II, when she was about to get a degree in Geography, she set off looking for appropriate topics for her scientific studies. Her thirst for knowledge led her through several African countries, as well as Portugal, where she spent many happy years with her Portuguese colleague Orlando Ribeiro, who she spoke of with affection and the utmost respect.
Portuguese filmmaker Luísa Homem presents a documentary portrait that covers every aspect of Suzanne Daveau’s rich life. From her research in the field and her private life to her feminism and the influence of modern times on family relationships and science. Her inspired and inspiring life is covered in detail through a comprehensive series of striking archive pictures and home videos recorded by Daveau herself, whose voice-over we hear talking openly and always in awe of life and the world around her.

Además de codirigir varios proyectos, realizó la dirección artística de A fábrica de nada (2017) de Pedro Pinho, además de colaborar en la redacción del guion y en el montaje.
Director, editor and founding partner of the production company Terratreme. She has a degree in Communication Science from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and the Université Paris 8. In addition to co-directing several projects, she was art director for The Nothing Factory (2017) by Pedro Pinho, as well as contributing scriptwriter and editor for the film.
